Waterside offers a unique opportunity at one of the industry’s premiere literary agencies for interns to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of book development, agenting and publishing.
About the Program
Our small staff is fun, dedicated, passionate about our work, and heavily reliant upon our interns to keep pace with our fast-moving activities. We hire people who are thorough, diligent, flexible, and conscientious, and who enjoy a focused purpose-based working environment and who possess a close attention to detail. Our interns have the ability and eagerness to pitch in on anything—from preparing Waterfront authors’ books for production and manuscript review to researching best-selling books and publishers in our genres. If you’re passionate, enthusiastic, and love books, then we encourage you to apply.
Length of Internship
Waterside internships are structured in 3-4 month periods of time but can be extended in special situations. Priority is given to interns who can commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Work can be completed remotely, however, all interns must have access to their own computer laptop to work.
While our internships do not pay, we offer in-the-trenches, hands-on experience and complete exposure to all aspects of book agenting, developing and publishing process. Interns can gain a deep understanding of the publishing industry and the publishing process itself through our unique publishing program. We do our best to tailor the internship program to our interns’ specific interests.
