Lawrence Jackel former C.E.O. and owner of TAB Books and Lectorum Publishing joined Waterside in December 2005. Over a 30 year publishing career Larry has acquired a complete view of the publishing industry. Larry views publishing as a partnership between authors and publishers.
Before owning and running his publishing companies Larry was the President of Litton Educational Publishing in N.Y.C. where he gained extensive experience in educational publishing running American Book Co., Delmar Publishers and McCormick Mathers.
Van Nostrand Reinhold, a very successful trade and reference book company was also under Larry’s guidance.
Larry has held just about every position in publishing. He began in finance and worked his way up to C.F.O. before assuming marketing, editorial and general management positions. He has acquired books and series for his companies and has sold and acquired subsidiary rights.
Larry has managed author relationships over an extended period of time in trade and professional and reference categories. In addition to publishing Larry has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and raising capital for publishing ventures.
Larry has traveled widely in the European, Asian and Latin American markets where he has extensive experience buying and selling rights and arranging co-publishing arrangements. He has attended the Frankfurt Book Fair for over 25 years. His interest are in general non-fiction with an emphasis on business and management books, technical titles including computers, self help, children’s books and cookbooks.
Larry was a pioneer in computer book publishing in 1979. Larry has a B.B.A and M.B.A. from City University of New York. He resides in Sarasota and will work with clients worldwide.
Larry will accept assignments in a broad range of subjects. He currently has assignments in the medical, cookbook and business areas.
